Premium−70%Absolute Wonder Woman — 100-Card Commander Deck
SKU DECK-AWW-100
Diana, Absolute Wonder Woman leads a Mardu (black/red/white) Commander deck where magic always costs something. Twenty spells have Price: as you cast one, you may sacrifice a creature, and if you do the spell gets stronger. Whenever you pay a Price, Diana deals 1 damage to each opponent and you scry 1, and at your end step you draw a card if you paid one that turn. Circe, Witch of the Wild Isle, a planeswalker, can be the commander instead.
Absolute Wonder Woman — Magic Has a Price
Commanded by Diana, Absolute Wonder Woman, this Mardu (black/red/white) 100-Card Commander Deck follows the Absolute re-imagining of Wonder Woman by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman. The gods banished the Amazons and erased the word from memory; Apollo left the last Amazon child on the Wild Isle of Hell, where the witch Circe was serving her own sentence. Circe was meant to let her die. She raised her instead and taught her history and witchcraft. Diana grows up a warrior-witch: towering, black-haired, red tattoos down one arm, hand-made black armour over red with a silver W, a fur mantle, a plain rectangular sword she calls to whatever size she needs, and a skeletal Pegasus. Her magic always costs something: her right arm to send Steve Trevor back to the surface, blood from Steve, Etta and Gia Candy in a ritual to Hecate, the hearing of a whole city to save Gateway City from the Tetracide, and a pomegranate seed to leave the Underworld.
Price: sacrifice as you cast, get the bigger spell
Twenty spells carry the same reminder, word for word: "Price (As you cast this spell, you may sacrifice a creature. If you do, its Price is paid.)" Most of them print a stronger "Paid —" line: A Bigger Sword goes from +4/+0 to +10/+0, Death of Soul exiles two nonland permanents instead of one, Scylla, Who Took Circe makes each opponent sacrifice two creatures, The Tetracide also makes each opponent sacrifice a creature, and The Fall of the Inverted Pyramid returns the sacrificed creature after destroying all creatures.
- The commander: a 5/5 with vigilance and trample; whenever you pay a Price, Diana deals 1 damage to each opponent and you scry 1; at the beginning of your end step, if you paid a Price this turn, draw a card.
- Thirteen cards read "Whenever you pay a Price": Hecate, Goddess of the Crossroads gives every spell you cast Price and draws a card; Zatanna Zatara, Bound to Diana copies paid instants and sorceries; Hades, Host of the Pit makes each opponent sacrifice a creature; The Athena Blade jumps to the creature of your choice; Etta Candy, Artemis and Stheno and Euryale add counters, damage and -2/-2.
- The offerings: Swine from Circe and Circe's Cauldron, Wild Isle Beasts, Harbingers, and creatures that come back or pay off when they die — The Skeletal Pegasus, Petra, Siren of the Maze, Hellhound of the Wild Isle, Doctor Poison, Cale's Chemist and Bull of the Wild Isle.
- Circe, Witch of the Wild Isle: a planeswalker that can be your commander. +1 creates a 1/1 black Swine, −3 turns an opponent's creature into a 1/1 Swine with no abilities, and −7 does it to every creature your opponents control.
Why Mardu
Black is the bargain: Hell, Hecate, Hades and the pomegranate seed. Red is the blood and the sword that keeps growing. White is the promise to protect Gateway City and the friends who bleed for her. No green and no lasso: this is not the classic Wonder Woman. Two combos close games: Persephone, Queen Below, Steve Trevor, Returned from Hell and Altar of the Wild Isle loop for unlimited colorless mana and creature deaths, with Gia Candy draining on each death; The Pomegranate Seed with Hecate's Twin Torches turns any life an opponent loses into a loop that drains your opponents. Hell's Lantern, Signet of the Last Amazon, Circe's Red Belt and Charm from Gia's Shop ramp; Circe's Lessons in Witchcraft finds any card; Death of Body, Death of Soul, Circe Turns Men to Swine and The Iron Maiden remove threats; The Fall of the Inverted Pyramid is the only sweeper; Hell Raised Her and The Bottomless Pouch keep the cards coming.
A complete 100-card Commander deck plus 4 tokens, built for Bracket 4. The 35 lands include The Wild Isle of Hell, Gateway City, The Inverted Pyramid, The Hieron and The Crossroads of Hecate.
