SpongeBob SquarePants: make the next batch matter

SpongeBob SquarePants, Fry Cook leads an Azorius (white/blue) Commander deck where the kitchen produces the resources that drive the board. At the beginning of combat on your turn, SpongeBob creates a Krabby Patty Food token. Order up abilities trigger when you create one or more Krabby Patties, so the useful moment is the arrival of a batch. The familiar Bikini Bottom cast gives that same event several different jobs, from growing creatures to preparing another artifact activation.

• KRABBY PATTIES: A Krabby Patty is a Food artifact token. Pay two mana, tap it and sacrifice it to gain 3 life. SpongeBob SquarePants, Fry Cook creates one at the beginning of combat on your turn.
• ORDER UP: Whenever you create one or more Krabby Patties, SpongeBob puts a +1/+1 counter on a target creature you control. Creating several in one event triggers this ability once.
• THE KITCHEN TEAM: Sandy Cheeks, Karate Scientist untaps a target artifact you control through Order up. Mr. Krabs, Owner of the Krusty Krab makes each opponent lose 1 life and gains you 1 life through his Order up ability.
• CARDS AND COMBAT: Squidward Tentacles, Reluctant Cashier draws a card through Order up, once each turn. Mermaid Man, Retired Superhero gives your creatures flying until end of turn whenever his Order up ability triggers.

Prepare the staff before the next order arrives

Each supporting permanent adds another effect to a batch you were already going to create. Sandy can make an artifact available again, Mr. Krabs applies pressure to life totals, and SpongeBob develops a creature with a permanent counter. Eating a Patty for life does not itself trigger Order up. It can interact with other cards, however: Patrick Star, Best Friend Forever may create a Patty whenever you gain life.

King Neptune, Ruler of the Seas creates two Patties on entry and gives your creatures +1/+1 for the turn through his own Order up ability. Karen, the Computer Wife creates a Patty whenever you cast a noncreature spell.
