How to print MTG proxies
- Step 1
Paste your list
Copy a decklist from Arena, MTGO, Moxfield, Archidekt or EDHREC and paste it as is. Quantities, set codes and section headers are understood.
- Step 2
Download the PDF
Every card is matched against Scryfall, laid out at true card size — 63 × 88 mm — nine per A4 or US Letter page.
- Step 3
Print, cut, sleeve
Print at 100% scale, cut along the guides and slide each proxy into a sleeve in front of a basic land for the right feel.
Getting the best result
Print at actual size. In the print dialog choose “100%”, “Actual size” or “No scaling”. A real Magic card measures 63 × 88 mm; anything else will look wrong in a sleeve.
Pick decent paper. Plain 80 g/m² paper works once it is sleeved in front of a basic land or a bulk common. For a stiffer feel, 160–200 g/m² matte card stock prints colours well and shuffles better.
Cut straight. A paper trimmer or a craft knife and metal ruler beat scissors. Leave “Cut lines” on, or add the 2 mm gap if your cuts tend to drift.
Sleeve them. Standard 66 × 91 mm sleeves hold a proxy plus a real card behind it, so the deck shuffles evenly and you can’t tell proxies apart by touch.
What is an MTG proxy?
A proxy is a stand-in for a Magic card you own, plan to buy or simply want to test. Players use proxies to try a Commander deck before investing in it, to protect expensive originals, or to play with friends who agreed to it. Read our complete guide to MTG proxies for the rules, etiquette and printing options.
Want something more special than the original art? Vanyrix makes themed 100-card Commander proxy decks — horror icons, superheroes, anime and video games reimagined as full Magic decks — and sells themed single proxy cards one by one.
Frequently asked questions
Is this MTG proxy printer really free?+
Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no card limit beyond 300 proxies per PDF. The PDF is built in your browser, so nothing you paste is stored on our servers.
What size are the printed proxies?+
Exactly 63 × 88 mm (2.48 × 3.46 in), the size of a real Magic: The Gathering card, so they fit standard sleeves. Print at 100% / “actual size”; letting the printer “fit to page” shrinks every card.
Which decklist formats work?+
Plain lists (“1 Sol Ring”, “1x Sol Ring”), MTG Arena and MTGO exports, Moxfield and Archidekt exports with set codes and collector numbers (“Sol Ring (C21) 263”), foil markers and section headers such as Commander, Deck or Sideboard.
Can I use proxies in tournaments?+
No. Proxies are for casual play, Commander nights with your playgroup’s agreement, and playtesting a deck before you buy it. They are not allowed in sanctioned events and must never be sold as real cards.
What about double-faced cards?+
Both faces are printed as two separate cards. Sleeve the front face and keep the back face handy, or switch “Back faces” off to print fronts only.
Do you sell printed proxies?+
Vanyrix makes themed Commander proxy decks — 100 cards with original art from movies, comics, anime and games — as a print-yourself file or a professionally printed deck. Single cards are available too.
