Our story

It all starts like many players' stories: a Commander game on a Sunday evening, a deck dreaming big, and the brutal realization that a single card costs as much as a month of groceries.

The spark

We were a small group of passionate players, each with their wishlist: a Mana Crypt for one, an Underground Sea for another, an entire Reserved List for the most ambitious. And always the same question: how long do you have to wait, how much do you have to save, before you dare play the deck you dream of?

The first proxies hit the table almost by accident — printed at home, cut with a craft knife, slipped into opaque sleeves. They were ugly, but the deck finally worked. And that's where, around that table, the idea of doing things properly was born.

The quest for paper

Months of trials. Dozens of papers tested. Pantone rolls calibrated, recalibrated, discarded. We wanted a feel close to an official card, perfect opacity — not a pinpoint of light coming through — and color rendering faithful to the original artworks.

The answer: black-core 320 gsm paper, high-resolution printing calibrated on every run, a matte finish that doesn't shine under bar lights. And, optionally, a holographic foil for cards that deserve a bit of theater.

A clear stance

Very quickly, one thing became obvious: we wanted a project that fully owns what it is. No disguised copies, no ambiguity. Our cards bear a discreet Vanyrix · Proxy mention, because a good proxy card remains a proxy card.

And above all, let us repeat it: Vanyrix is not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast. We love this game, we buy our official cards for tournaments, and we encourage all our customers to do the same. Vanyrix only exists for what happens on the margins — the table among friends, the Sunday brew, the deck you just wanted to be able to test before buying it.

Today

Vanyrix continues to evolve. We listen to feedback, we improve our processes, and we regularly add new alternative artworks and limited editions to our Custom & Promo category.

The goal hasn't changed: that every player can lay on the table the deck they dream of, with crisp, readable, beautiful cards, owned as proxies.

"The game has never been about price. It has always been about moments."
