Absolute Evil — Seat at the Table

Commanded by Veronica Cale, National Security Advisor, this Grixis (blue/black/red) 100-Card Commander Deck is built on Absolute Evil #1, the villains' one-shot of the DC Absolute Universe. In a world shaped by Darkseid's essence, the "Justice League" is not a team of heroes but a cartel of the people who already run everything. Veronica Cale, head of G.A.T.E.S. and Area 41, gathers the Joker — the billionaire Jack Grimm, skin bleached white with green veins — Ra's al Ghul of Lazarus Corp, Hector Hammond, who holds the Green Lantern crash site, and Dr. Elenore Thawne of Project Olympus. She runs a slideshow of vigilantes removed under mysterious circumstances, then Hawkman lays Oliver Queen's body on the table, and nobody refuses again. They take a Hall of Justice in black marble; Brainiac watches from a distance and wants one more chair; a red-haired young farmer named Lex Luthor picks up the phone. The rest of the table comes from the neighbouring Absolute titles: Talia al Ghul and the Peacemakers, Black Mask and the Party Animals, Bane of Santa Prisca, Deathstroke, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Doctor Poison, Zatanna, Wildcat, Sinestro and the Blackstars, and Mirror Master. The art follows the Absolute designs, never the classic costumes: Darkseid is a colossal stone face with burning red eyes inside a black storm cloud, the Joker wears no makeup at all, and Hawkman is wrapped in grey bandages under a hawk-skull helmet.

Every Answer Is the Wrong One

• Seat at the Table: twenty-three cards carry it word for word, for example "Seat at the Table — Draw a card. Each opponent may take a seat. Each one who does draws a card, and you draw a card for each of them." A card, a Treasure, a +1/+1 counter, a creature back from the graveyard: the offer is always real, and every opponent answers once, out loud. No counters, no votes, no secret choices.
• Veronica Cale in two lines: at the beginning of your upkeep, Seat at the Table — draw a card; and whenever an opponent refuses a seat, that player loses 2 life and you create a Treasure token.
• Taking a seat feeds the League: Lex Luthor, the Man on the Farm draws, Black Mask, Roman Sionis creates a Party Animal, Bane, Venom Colossus grows, Brainiac, the Mind Behind Lazarus scries and Wildcat, Bought and Paid For gets +2/+0 and menace whenever an opponent takes a seat. The Omega Particle gives you each Seat at the Table effect one more time for every opponent who sits.
• Refusing costs them: Hawkman, Betrayer of the Society deals 3 damage to one of their creatures or planeswalkers, Deathstroke fights, Scarecrow makes them discard, Sinestro taps and freezes a creature, and The Joker, Jack Grimm drains 1 life from any opponent who takes a seat or refuses one.
• The planeswalker: Darkseid, the Omega Within can be your commander — +1 is a Seat at the Table that creates Treasure, −3 destroys a creature and its controller loses life equal to its power, and −8 gives an emblem that makes every opponent who refuses a seat sacrifice a nonland permanent.

Why Grixis

Blue is Cale's government — clearances, briefings, Area 41, overrides. Black is the League's money and its disappearances. Red is the force it buys: Venom, Party Animals, Project Olympus and Omega Beams. No white: no law sits above this table. No green: nothing here grows on its own, everything is bought. Two combos end the game. Mirror Master's Reflection copies Through the Looking Glass onto itself, the hasty token copy of the Reflection copies the spell again, and so on — unlimited hasty attackers. The Just World Fallacy with Lazarus Transfusion turns any life gained or lost into a loop that ends with the table dead, and any answer read by the Joker or by Cale starts it. Bracket 4 tooling: Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Talisman of Dominance, Rakdos Signet and Talisman of Creativity for mana; The Slideshow as a tutor; Mysterious Circumstances, Omega Beams, Every Vigilante Has a Price, Deniable Operation, Doctor Poison, The Red Scare and Peacemaker as removal; National Security Override and Classified as counterspells; The Omega Cloud as the one sweeper; Veronica Cale, Area 41 Briefing, The Joker's Monologue and Lex Luthor for cards.

A complete 100-card Commander deck plus 4 tokens (Treasure, Party Animal, Peacemaker and a Seat at the Table reminder card), tuned for Bracket 4, with 35 lands including Area 41, Santa Prisca and The Black Marble Boardroom.
