Absolute Green Arrow — The Longbow Killer

Commanded by The Green Arrow Killer, this Golgari (black/green) 100-Card Commander Deck plays the DC Absolute version of Green Arrow as a slasher mystery. Oliver Queen, an idealistic billionaire set on bringing down his former partner Jubal Slade, is beaten to death by Hawkman, the enforcer of a circle of billionaires. Then an archer in a steel skull mask with glowing red eyes, wrapped in red smoke, starts killing those billionaires one by one with bio-agent arrows, and leaves nothing behind but green arrows. Dinah Lance, the Absolute Black Canary — a former MMA fighter turned bodyguard, and Oliver's ex — is hired by Hector Hammond to find out who is wearing a dead man's name: Roy Harper, the burned-out protégé? Mia Dearden, the boxer with pigtails? Merlyn? Tom Hallaway? Or Oliver himself, back from Lian Yu or Starfish Island? The art follows the Absolute design rather than the classic costume: a scarred steel skull mask with a crescent brow and red eyes, a ragged dark green hood and long tattered coat, a black longbow and red smoke, with Oliver painted as a blond tech billionaire in a green tracksuit. No gore.

Loose — Someone Has to Draw the Bow

• Loose: twelve Arrow artifacts and the Green Arrow token read word for word "Loose — Tap an untapped Archer you control, Sacrifice this Arrow:" followed by their own effect. Bio-Agent Arrowhead destroys a creature, Net Arrow taps one and keeps it tapped, Red Smoke Arrow stops an opponent's creatures from blocking, Tranquilizer Arrow strips abilities, Thermite Arrow destroys an artifact or enchantment, Grappling Arrow draws a card and Grave-Dirt Arrow returns a creature card from your graveyard. The Green Arrow token gives -2/-2.
• The Killer who never reloads: reach and deathtouch, a Green Arrow token when he enters and at the beginning of your end step, and "Whenever you loose an Arrow, untap The Green Arrow Killer and each opponent loses 1 life." On his own he can fire every Arrow you control in one turn, draining the table with each shot.
• The archers: thirteen Archer creatures, the Copycat Archer token and The Metal Mask, which makes any creature an Archer, can all fire without him. More than twenty other cards create Green Arrow tokens, and The Green Arrow Is Not Dead doubles them and gives your Archers +1/+1.
• The planeswalker: Oliver Queen, Absolute Green Arrow can be your commander — +1 creates a Green Arrow token, −2 creates a 2/2 Copycat Archer with reach, and −7 gives an emblem that draws a card and makes each opponent lose 2 life whenever you loose an Arrow.

Why Golgari

Black is the poison, the red smoke, the bodies and the billionaires' money; green is the bow, the hood, the island and the earth of Potter's Field, the grave the dead man may have climbed out of. The Fletching Room creates a new Green Arrow every time you loose one, so beside the Killer the quiver refills itself and every shot keeps draining for as long as there is a creature to aim at. The second combo is unlimited: Solomon Grundy, Born on a Monday costs {B} and can be cast from your graveyard, The Rejuvenation Rig sacrifices him for one mana of any color, and The Comment Section makes each opponent lose 1 life every time he dies. Bracket 4 tooling: Queen Industries Seed Money, The Calling-Card Fletching, The Longbow Signet and The Arrowhead Pendant for mana; Oliver's Last Ledger as a tutor; Bio-Agent Arrowhead, The Last Arrow of Oliver Queen, Hawkman, the Mace in the Boardroom, Bodies at the Gala, A Billionaire's Last Glass and The Room of Dead Bodyguards as removal; The Red Smoke as the one sweeper; The Longbow Hunters and Dinah's Online Therapy for cards.
