Premium−70%Absolute Martian Manhunter — 100-Card Commander Deck
SKU DECK-AMM-100
John Jones, Absolute Martian Manhunter leads a Bant (green/white/blue) Commander deck that reads minds. Martian Vision looks at an opponent's hand and the top two cards of their library; you mill any of those two and put the rest back in the order you choose. Whenever you use it, John puts a +1/+1 counter on up to one creature you control for each color among the nonland cards you looked at. The planeswalker The Martian, Cyclopean Thought-Form can be your commander instead.
Absolute Martian Manhunter — Martian Vision
Commanded by John Jones, Absolute Martian Manhunter, this Bant (green/white/blue) 100-Card Commander Deck follows the Absolute Martian Manhunter story in Middleton, Colorado. John is an FBI agent so cold his colleagues call him the Martian; he survives a bombing, goes back to work the next day, and starts to see people's thoughts leaving them as colored smoke. Something has moved into his head: a green, one-eyed thought-form that slips into stop signs, traffic lights, cigarette smoke and newspaper photos. Together they hunt the White Martian, called 000, which spreads hate through television static, while the Agency closes in. The cast includes Bridget and Tyler Jones, Agent Suttree, Special Agent Nelson, Agent Newell, Detective Mayweather, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Donnely, Calvin Hill, Selma, Gus and Matt Galvers and Despair-the-Zero, with Nihilo Bay, Certa Street and Middleton Hospital among the places.
- Martian Vision: "Look at target opponent's hand and the top two cards of their library. Put any number of those library cards into their graveyard and the rest back on top in any order." You read a mind, then decide what that player draws next. It appears on 45 of the 100 cards.
- Seeing people as colors: the deck is paid "for each color among nonland cards you looked at" — John puts that many +1/+1 counters on one of your creatures, Bridget Jones, Who Kept the House gains that much life, Despair-the-Zero mills that many cards and Someone Else's Childhood draws that many. Reading a five-color hand pays far more than reading a mono-red one.
- The planeswalker: The Martian, Cyclopean Thought-Form can be your commander. +1 is a Martian Vision; −3 exiles a nonland permanent an opponent controls until the Martian leaves; −7 gives you an emblem that uses Martian Vision on each opponent at the beginning of their upkeep.
- Every vision does more: The White Martian, Called 000 makes the player exile a nonland card from their hand, Mrs. Donnely, First-Grade Teacher locks down a creature, Selma Galvers puts a land into play, Euphoria of Total Understanding draws and Tyler Jones makes Clay Martian tokens.
Why Bant
Blue is telepathy: hands read, libraries searched, lies seen before they are spoken. Green is the Martian itself, a living color against a grey life. White is what John holds on to — the badge, the procedure, the house, Bridget and the hospital. There is no black or red: the evil arrives through a screen, and the heatwave rage belongs to the enemy. Special Agent's Federal Badge, The Martian's Lighthouse Eye, Tyler's Clay Talisman, The Martian in the Traffic Light, Calvin Hill, Moving to Middleton and Neighborhood Watch Walk ramp; The Martian Shaped Your Whole Life tutors; Remanded to Federal Custody, Reassigned Out of Middleton, The Agency Takes It Away, Sedated by the Agency and Colors Clash in the Dark remove threats; Read the Lie Before It's Spoken and Agency Gag Order counter; The Blackout Over Middleton is the only sweeper and can't be countered. Every Thought in the Room, Seeing People as Colors and Stream of Colored Smoke keep the cards coming, and Full Consciousness Upgrade and The Green Martian, Full Spectrum read every opponent at once.
Two combos are built in. Calvin Hill, Gardener in the Heatwave with the Nurse at Middleton Hospital makes unlimited green mana, poured into The Psychosphere of Middleton for as many Martian Visions as you like — each one can mill two cards and grow your board through John. Detective Mayweather, Night Shift paired with the Agency Extraction Team blinks for {1}{U} and untaps up to five lands each time, for unlimited mana.
The 35 lands include ten places from the story, from Middleton, Colorado and The Jones' House to Nihilo Bay and The Diner After the Blackout, with 10 Islands, 8 Forests and 7 Plains. A complete 100-card Commander deck plus 3 tokens, with the existing Bracket 4 designation.
