Cuphead — 100-Card Commander Deck

Cuphead and Mugman, the Cup Brothers lead a Boros (red/white) Commander deck built on one move: you parry whenever a creature you control blocks or becomes blocked, and whenever you cast a spell during an opponent's turn. Twenty-six cards pay on every parry — the Brothers deal 1 damage, the Devil 2 to each opponent — and Super Art spells hit harder if you parried this turn.

Cuphead — Don't Deal with the Devil

Commanded by Cuphead and Mugman, the Cup Brothers — one card for both brothers — this Boros (red/white) 100-Card Commander Deck is set on Inkwell Isle, drawn like a 1930s cartoon. Two cup-headed brothers ignore Elder Kettle's advice, walk into the Devil's casino, go on a winning streak, bet their souls on one roll and throw snake eyes. To keep them, they agree to collect the soul contracts of the Devil's runaway debtors — every boss on four islands. The game is a string of boss fights built on one move: the parry. Anything pink coming at you can be slapped out of the air. The cast includes Ms. Chalice, Elder Kettle, Porkrind, Chef Saltbaker, Cagney Carnation, Hilda Berg, Goopy Le Grande, Ribby and Croaks, Baroness Von Bon Bon, Djimmi the Great, Grim Matchstick, Rumor Honeybottoms, Dr. Kahl's Robot, Cala Maria, King Dice and the Devil himself.

  • Parry: word for word on the commander — "You parry whenever a creature you control blocks or becomes blocked, and whenever you cast a spell during an opponent's turn." Twenty-six cards read "Whenever you parry": the Brothers deal 1 damage to any target, the Devil deals 2 to each opponent, Dr. Kahl's Robot deals 1 to each opposing creature, Rumor makes Worker Bees, the Baroness makes Candy Soldiers, Ms. Chalice, Goopy and Cagney grow, Chef Saltbaker draws, Hilda Berg gives the team flying.
  • Super Art: a condition, not a gauge — "If you parried this turn", the stronger effect applies, on Energy Beam, Invincibility, Giant Ghost, Charge Shot, Chaser EX and the sweeper Bring Down the House. The Brothers make Super Art spells cost {1} less. No counters anywhere.
  • Jump into the attack: the deck wants to be attacked and to act on other players' turns — twenty-two creatures with flash, instants, blockers that stop several attackers, and lures that force blocks on your turn.

Why Boros

Red is the finger-guns, the fire and the casino — Peashooter, Spread, Chaser, the Devil's dice, a dragon made of matches. White is the parry itself — timing, defence, a ghost's dash — and Elder Kettle's potion. No black: the brothers spend the whole game refusing to become the Devil's men. Two combos close the game: Djimmi the Great copying Gemini Constellation makes unlimited hasty flying Spirits, and Elder Kettle giving lifelink to the Wind-Up Peashooter Turret deals unlimited damage. Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Boros Signet, Talisman of Conviction, The Coffee Charm and Chips Bettigan ramp; The Devil's Bargain and Porkrind tutor; Knockout!, Peashooter Volley, Charge Shot and Chaser EX remove threats; Bring Down the House sweeps — parry first and your creatures survive; The Playing-Card Meter and Chef Saltbaker draw.

A complete 100-card Commander deck plus 5 tokens, tuned for Bracket 4, available as a digital print-yourself edition or a printed physical deck, and offered in 10 languages.
