Death Note Commander Deck · 100 Card Proxy MTG EDH (Kira)

100% custom Death Note Magic proxy Commander deck: an execution engine on one side and a clock counting your own kills on the other, and both of them are yours. Write the name puts a counter on a creature and exiles it at your next end step — it does not destroy, so indestructible is no answer, and nothing triggers on the way out. Every name also puts an evidence counter on your own Investigations, and at thirteen you lose the game, so half the deck exists to move that count onto somebody else. Light Yagami writes the names, Ryuk grows on every name at the table and burns evidence off for a discard. Esper (W/U/B), Bracket 4, two custom combos. Print Yourself at €30 (HD files, free delivery) or printed deck at €150.

Death Note Commander Deck · 100 Proxy Cards · MTG EDH · Kira

A fully custom Death Note Magic proxy Commander deck, ready to play straight out of the envelope: 100 proxy cards with original artworks, built around a notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it and the six-year argument that follows. This is an Esper (W/U/B) deck led by the partner commanders Light Yagami, Justice Itself and Ryuk, the Bored God.

Why Esper? White is the verdict — mass judgement, the rule imposed on everyone, the belief that the world improves if the wrong people simply stop. Blue is the investigation on both sides of it: L's deductions, Light's twelve-move plans, the surveillance, the tests, the lie prepared three episodes early. Black is the notebook itself, a bargain with a god of death priced in years off your own life. There is no red because nobody in this story acts on impulse and survives, and no green because nothing here is natural: it is two people modelling each other in a room until one of them makes an arithmetic error.

Targeted power level: Bracket 4 — fast mana, a deep tutor package, Force of Will and Cyclonic Rift for the interaction slot, and two custom combos that end a board on one trigger.

Deck Strategy

Write the name is the original mechanic, and it is the removal: put a name counter on target creature; at the beginning of your next end step, exile each creature with a name counter on it, then put an evidence counter on each Investigation you control. It does not destroy, so indestructible is no answer. It exiles, so nothing triggers on death, nothing gets reanimated, and sacrificing the creature in response denies you nothing — the name is already written. What the delay buys the table is the only defence the story allows: blink it, bounce it, move it out of reach before the end step. Everyone at the table can see the death coming.

The Investigation is the price. Every name you write puts an evidence counter on your own Investigation permanents — The Kira Investigation, The Task Force Headquarters, L Lawliet, Near — and each of them reads at the beginning of your end step, if this has thirteen or more evidence counters on it, you lose the game. L Lawliet arrives with three already on him. This is the only deck in the line whose main removal spell builds its own loss condition, and it is not decorative: an unchecked draw kills you around turn eleven. Half the blue half of the deck exists to move the count somewhere else — The Thirteen-Day Rule redirects a counter to an opponent's Investigation for {1}, A False Kira dumps your whole pile onto theirs, Near moves them one at a time, and Mello sacrifices a creature to strip three.

  • The asymmetry between the commanders is the deck. Light writes a name whenever you cast a noncreature spell and draws whenever a named creature is exiled, so he generates both the removal and the cards — and the evidence. Ryuk does not care who wins: he gets a +1/+1 counter whenever any player writes a name, and for {B} and a discarded card he removes an evidence counter. Light alone loses to his own clock; Ryuk alone is a 4/4 flier with no engine. Together they are the bargain the story describes.
  • The cast — the task force and the detectives (L Lawliet, Near, Mello, Watari, Soichiro Yagami, Matsuda, Aizawa, Naomi Misora, Raye Penber, Mogi, Ide, Halle Lidner) against Kira's side (Misa Amane, Rem, Teru Mikami, Kiyomi Takada, Higuchi, Sidoh, Gelus, the Shinigami King, Demegawa, Namikawa). Watari gives your other Investigations hexproof; Soichiro Yagami exiles a named creature and strips two evidence when he dies.
  • The removal package — Swords to Plowshares, Terminate-grade answers in Toxic Deluge and Cyclonic Rift, Counterspell and Force of Will, plus the custom Judgement on the Wicked (each opponent sacrifices their largest creature and every Investigation you control takes an evidence counter) and The Bus Hijacking, which steals a creature, swings with it and writes its name on the way out.
  • The artifacts — The Death Note itself, The Shinigami Eyes (equipped creature writes a name whenever it attacks, equip costs 4 life), The Hidden Drawer and The Surveillance Room, alongside Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Arcane Signet and Talisman of Dominance.
  • Two combos, both on theme. Teru Mikami + The Death Note: Mikami writes a name whenever a creature is exiled, the Death Note exiles a named creature whenever a name counter is put on one, so one trigger clears every creature on the table — and hands you thirteen evidence in about four seconds, which makes it a genuine "do I want this" button rather than a free win. Misa Amane + Rem: Rem removes an evidence counter whenever a creature you control is targeted by your own spell or ability, and Misa writes a name whenever she is targeted by one. Free, repeatable, evidence-neutral removal for as long as Rem lives — which is exactly the deal she made, and exactly what kills her.

Thirty-five lands, and they are the places rather than a mana base: the Yagami house, Task Force Tower, To-Oh University, Wammy's House, the Shinigami Realm, Sakura Television, the rooftop in the rain, the Kanto skyline and the warehouse floor, on top of Command Tower, Ancient Tomb, City of Brass, Mana Confluence and the Esper shocklands. Three tokens — Human, Shinigami and Treasure — come in the box. Average mana value 2.66, built to hold the board from turn three and close from turn eight.
