Reminder card. THE WEIGHING OF THE HEART: whenever a creature dies — every creature, on every battlefield — weigh it. Power 2 or less: its heart was the lighter, so exile that card in the Field of Reeds, and at the beginning of each player's upkeep that player gains 1 life for each card they own exiled there. Power 3 or greater: Ammit devours it and its owner creates a 3/3 black Beast creature token.
THE VERDICT IS A LAW OF THE TABLE, NOT A PRIVILEGE. It fires on your opponents' creatures too and it pays the dead creature's own owner, so an opponent can be rewarded for losing something small. What it costs them is the card itself: a light heart leaves the graveyard for good and can never be mummified. A heavy heart stays in the graveyard, which is why this deck plays creatures with power 3 or greater and why it carries the means to push a power up or down before the pans settle.
MUMMIFICATION: put an embalm counter on a creature card in your graveyard. At four or more counters that card returns to the battlefield under your control as a 4/4 black Zombie that keeps all of its abilities. This is NOT the Embalm keyword printed in Amonkhet. Embalm exiles the card from your graveyard and gives you a token copy immediately, once, and the card is gone. Mummification takes four turns, leaves the card where it is until the work is finished, and gives back the real card. The counters go UP, toward a return.
