Premium−70%Football Commander Deck · 100 Card Proxy MTG EDH (The World Cup)
SKU MTG-EDH-FOOTBALL-001
100% custom football Magic proxy Commander deck: every great player who ever lived on one team sheet, arguing about who gets the ball. The Ball is a single legendary Equipment and its carrier is the only creature that can score, so nineteen players carry pass — attack, hand the ball on, and fire a bonus: Xavi draws, Iniesta untaps the board, Zidane grows. Each connected hit is a goal counter, and The World Cup wins the game at your end step once you have five of them. Twelve cards grant tackle, and so does The Ball itself, so any opponent who blocks the carrier takes it off you. Naya (R/G/W), Bracket 4, three infinite combos. Print Yourself at €30 (HD files, free delivery) or printed deck at €150.
Football Commander Deck · 100 Proxy Cards · MTG EDH · The World Cup
A fully custom football Magic proxy Commander deck, ready to play straight out of the envelope: 100 proxy cards with original artworks, built around one ball and thirty-eight of the greatest players who ever lived arguing about who gets it. This is a three-colour Naya (R/G/W) deck led by the partner commanders Lionel Messi, La Pulga and Cristiano Ronaldo, CR7, sharing a command zone for once.
Why Naya? Green is the football itself — the pitch, the body, the ninety minutes, the players who see the pass three seconds early: Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Ronaldinho. Red is the finish — pace, nerve, the shot from thirty yards: Ronaldo, Mbappé, Haaland, Zlatan, Cantona. White is the team — the shape, the back four, the armband, eleven men moving as one object: Maldini, Beckenbauer, Cannavaro, Van Dijk, Casillas. No blue, because nothing in this sport is decided by thinking about it quietly, and no black, because for all the money it is still eleven against eleven and a ball.
Targeted power level: Bracket 4 — three infinite combos, fast mana (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Ancient Tomb), Enlightened Tutor and Worldly Tutor both pointed at the one-card engine, Sylvan Library and Smothering Tithe behind them.
Deck Strategy
The whole deck is one sentence: there is only one ball, and whoever has it is the only player who can score.
The Ball is a single legendary Equipment costing {1}. It is not a token, not a counter and not a resource you accumulate: it is one card. The equipped creature gets +1/+1 and has "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, you score a goal" — you get a goal counter. Everything else in the list is written around getting it, keeping it and moving it, which is why the deck runs two tutors that can find an artifact and why The World Cup itself can search The Ball out of the library and attach it.
Pass is the ability word that makes it an engine, and it sits on nineteen creatures: "Pass — Whenever this creature attacks, you may attach The Ball to target creature you control. When you do, [bonus]." Passing is not a cost and not a drawback — it is how the deck generates value. Xavi Hernández draws a card every time the ball is attached to anything. Andrés Iniesta untaps all creatures you control when it arrives at his feet. Zinédine Zidane takes two +1/+1 counters. Pelé hands the receiver indestructible. Johan Cruyff simply gives pass to every creature you control. A board full of passers turns one attack into a chain of triggers that ends with the ball at the feet of whoever is unblocked.
- Tackle — the answer, and the reason the deck is not oppressive. "Whenever a creature you control blocks the creature equipped with The Ball, you may attach The Ball to the blocking creature." Twelve cards grant it — Beckenbauer, Maldini, Ramos, Van Dijk, the keepers, Catenaccio, the Captain's Armband — and the ability is printed on The Ball itself, so any deck at the table can block your carrier and take the ball off you. No other set in this line hands opponents the key to its win condition on purpose.
- The World Cup — a {4} legendary artifact: "At the beginning of your end step, if you have five or more goal counters, you win the game." It is the only alternate win condition in the multiverse an opponent can physically take away from you, because the goals stop the moment the ball changes shirts. The Ballon d'Or draws a card for each goal counter; Penalty Shootout converts them into damage.
- The cast — Pelé, Maradona, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Puskás, Eusébio, Garrincha, Platini, Baggio, Zidane, Ronaldo Nazário, Ronaldinho, Maldini, Cannavaro, Ramos, Van Dijk, Yashin, Buffon, Neuer, Casillas, Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Modrić, Beckham, Totti, Henry, Drogba, Weah, Zlatan, Cantona, Mbappé, Haaland, Neymar, Suárez, Lewandowski, Salah and Yamal.
- The cards — the Yellow Card taps a creature, keeps it tapped through its controller's next untap step and gives it -2/-2 if it was attacking or blocking. The Red Card is the hardest removal in the deck: it exiles a creature and its controller cannot cast creature spells that turn — the only removal spell here that reduces the other side to ten men. Swords to Plowshares, Offside and VAR — The Video Assistant (which counters a triggered ability during combat) round out the interaction.
- Three infinite combos. Andrés Iniesta + The Ball + any pass creature: Iniesta untaps every creature you control whenever the ball becomes attached to him, so a pass to Iniesta and a pass back re-triggers every attack ability on the board — with Xavi out, that is infinite cards. Lev Yashin + The Panenka: Yashin returns an instant from your graveyard whenever he blocks, The Panenka untaps a creature and scores a goal while you control The Ball, so the loop turns mana into goals. Manuel Neuer + Sergio Ramos: the sweeper keeper leaves his line to fight, Ramos hands the fighter indestructible and a +1/+1 counter, and the fight costs nothing but a tap.
Thirty-five lands, and they are the grounds rather than a mana base: the Maracanã, Camp Nou, the Santiago Bernabéu, San Siro, Old Trafford, Wembley, La Bombonera, Anfield, the Allianz Arena, the Estadio Azteca, the Parc des Princes and Signal Iduna Park, behind Command Tower, Jungle Shrine, Sacred Foundry, Stomping Ground, Temple Garden, City of Brass, Mana Confluence, Ancient Tomb and Path of Ancestry. Three tokens — Supporter, Referee and Treasure — come in the box.
Average mana value 2.8, built to have the ball on the table by turn three.
Fan-made proxy — not intended for official tournaments
