A fully custom horror Magic proxy Commander deck, ready to play straight out of the envelope: 100 proxy cards with original artworks, built out of every monster that ever came back for a sequel. This is a mono-black deck led by The Grimoire of the Damned — a legendary artifact that can be your commander.

Why mono-black? Because a horror deck in three colours is a horror deck with an escape route. Black is the colour of the deal you should not have made: demons, the dead who refuse to stay dead, curses, and the price of all of it.

Targeted power level: Bracket 4 — three infinite combos, fast mana and a full tutor package, over an engine that cannot be answered by removal at all… only by taking the book away.

Deck Strategy

Everything starts with Summoned, the deck's original mechanic. As long as you control the Grimoire, a summoned creature has indestructible and ward {2}. It cannot be killed. Not by removal, not by a wrath, not by blocking, and it costs {2} even to be targeted. Your monsters are exactly as unstoppable as they are in the films.

And exactly like the films, they only get one night. At the beginning of the end step you sacrifice every summoned creature you control — so they never block, and the board is empty before the turn passes. Then, at your next main phase, the book brings one back for free, and the night starts again.

Take the book away and the same line reads the other way round: no indestructible, no ward, and when they die they are exiled — gone from the game, no sequel. One artifact is the difference between an army nobody can answer and a pile of cardboard that answers itself. That is deliberate. This deck is built so a table that ignores the Grimoire loses, and a table that points one Disenchant at it turns the whole thing off at the joint.

• Page counters — every creature death anywhere on the table writes another page in the book, including your own monsters sacrificing themselves every end step, so it is always feeding. Pages gate the free recursion: the Grimoire can only reopen on a monster whose mana value is at most the number of pages, so the early book manages the small things in the cellar and the late book opens on the big ones.
• The Mortals — fourteen killers who never needed a book at all. They stay on the battlefield through the end step, they are the only blockers this deck ever has, and their Body count abilities get stronger the higher the page count climbs.
• Three infinite combos close it around turn five: Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood, Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth, and an all-custom loop between the doll in the glass case and The Body Count that produces infinite deaths, infinite pages and infinite drain off two cards.
• The Longest Night is the finisher that says the quiet part out loud: it stops the end-step sacrifice entirely — for exactly as long as the book is still on the table.

On the summoned side: the dancing clown, the burned man on Elm Street, the shape in the white mask, the defiled nun, the good guy doll, the drowned boy, the priest of the labyrinth, the girl in the well, the grudge, the man with the hook, the thing in the top hat, the silent clown, the witch of Harrisville, the crooked man, the demon who wears her face, the creeper, the keeper of the rules, the eater of children, the risen priest, the twins in the corridor, the weeping woman and the thing that only ever smiles. On the mortal side: the voice on the phone, the family butcher, mother's boy, the cannibal gourmet, the jigsaw killer, the prom queen, the caretaker, the antichrist, the orphan, the perfect résumé, the count, the wolf man, the monster nobody summoned, and a doll sitting very still in her case.

Every villain in this box is fiction. No real person is named, quoted or depicted anywhere in the set.
