Max Payne - Bullet Time Commander Deck · 100 Proxy Cards · MTG EDH · Bullet Time

A fully custom Max Payne Magic proxy Commander deck, ready to play straight out of the envelope: 100 proxy cards with original artworks, built around a detective with nothing left to lose walking through a snowbound city at night, narrating his own case file as it gets worse. This is a blue-black (Dimir) deck led by Max Payne.

Targeted power level: Bracket 4. Dimir aggression that treats life as mana: bullet time buys unblockable doubled damage for two life a shot, and painkillers are the only way to reload.

Deck Strategy

Bullet Time — "Pay 2 life: this creature can't be blocked this turn and combat damage it deals is doubled." Sixteen creatures carry it. The deck treats your life total as mana rather than as a scoreboard: an unanswered Max at 30 life kills in four turns, and the same Max at 12 is a 3/3 that no longer gets through.

Painkillers — The lifegain in this deck is not defence, it is a reload. It buys back the turns you have already spent, which is why the deck can afford to open at a pace nothing else in Dimir is allowed to open at.

• BULLET TIME — Pay 2 life: this creature cannot be blocked this turn and its combat damage is doubled. Sixteen creatures have it.
• LIFE IS MANA — Your life total is a resource you spend, not a score you protect — the deck is priced that way from card one.
• PAINKILLERS — The reload: lifegain that exists solely to buy back the turns you already spent.
• THE CLOCK — Unanswered at 30 life he closes in four turns; at 12 the same creature is a 3/3 that no longer gets through.
