Star Wars Commander Deck · 100 Proxy Cards · MTG EDH · The Light Side

A fully custom Star Wars Magic proxy Commander deck, ready to play straight out of the envelope: 100 proxy cards with original artworks, built entirely out of the people who beat the Empire. The Jedi line, the Rebel high command, the crew of the Falcon, the Rogue One squad, the droids and the Ewoks. This is a Bant (W/U/G) deck led by Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight.

Why white, blue and green? White is the same colour as in The Dark Side box, and that is the point — white is order, and both sides believe they have it. The Empire pairs it with black. The Rebellion pairs it with blue (the Force as knowledge, the astromechs, the stolen schematics) and green (the living Force — Dagobah, Endor, Kashyyyk). Same white. Different second half.

Targeted power level: Bracket 4 — three infinite combos, fast mana and a full tutor package, over an engine that turns your own casualties into permanent value.

Deck Strategy

Everything starts with Become one with the Force, the deck's original mechanic: when one of your heroes dies, it is exiled instead of going to the graveyard, and its Force Ghost ability then works from exile for the rest of the game. Obi-Wan dead makes your creature spells cheaper. Yoda dead grows your board every upkeep. Mace dead gives the whole team first strike. Killing a Jedi in this deck is not removal — it is an upgrade your opponent paid for. And it is immune by design to the Empire's Conscript, which strip-mines graveyards this deck never uses.

Luke Skywalker grows every other creature you control when he attacks, draws off your own Force Ghosts, and gets +3/+3 and protection from black exactly when you are behind. Three more pillars hold it together:

  • Against the Odds — an ability word on fourteen cards that only pays out while an opponent controls more creatures than you. You are supposed to be outnumbered. Yoda is a 2/2 that becomes a 6/6 when you are (size matters not), Han draws every time he swings into a bigger board, Ackbar taxes every attacker, and A New Hope refills your hand every upkeep.
  • The Fleet — the Millennium Falcon, which gets +1/+0 for every creature your opponents control, plus Red Five, the Ghost, Home One, Snowspeeders and a captured AT-ST the Ewoks can crew. The Empire crews with nameless troopers; the Rebellion crews with named pilots.
  • A New Hope — three infinite combos close the game around turn five: Heliod + Walking Ballista, Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal, and the all-custom R2-D2 + C-3PO loop that makes arbitrarily many Rebel Troopers without ever touching a graveyard.

34 creatures and 5 token-makers in the whole deck: this Rebellion never floods the board, because the one turn it stops being outnumbered is the turn it wins. 35 lands, average mana value around 2.3.
