A fully custom The Last of Us Magic proxy Commander deck, ready to play straight out of the envelope: 100 proxy cards with original artworks built entirely out of a world twenty years after the Cordyceps Brain Infection — ivy over collapsed facades, deer in the streets, grass splitting the asphalt of Boston, Pittsburgh, Jackson and Salt Lake. This is a Gruul (R/G) deck led by the partner commanders Joel Miller and Ellie Williams, so you start every game with both of them in the command zone.

Targeted power level: Bracket 4 — three infinite combos, fast mana and a full tutor package, over an attrition plan that turns your opponents' best creatures into your own.

Deck Strategy

Everything revolves around Outbreak, the deck's original mechanic: whenever a creature with Outbreak attacks, put spore counters on a creature the defending player controls. At three spore counters, that creature's controller sacrifices it — so indestructible and regeneration do nothing — and you create a 4/4 green Fungus Horror named Clicker with menace. It is removal that takes three touches and then hands you the body.

Ellie Williams gives Outbreak 1 to your entire board, so a five-creature attack seeds five spores across the table and turns something every second swing — and every Fungus token that arrives puts a +1/+1 counter on her, because she is the one thing in the set spores cannot touch. Joel Miller is the other axis: he gets +X/+0 for every creature card already in your graveyard, grows a counter every time a friend dies, and can hand indestructible to the one that matters. Three pillars hold it together:

• "The infection spreads" — Cordyceps Bloom seeds a free spore every upkeep and draws you a card each time one lands, Bill's traps and the Nail Bomb spread them in bulk, and Abby Anderson simply destroys anything already carrying one.
• "The infected swarm" — Runners and Clickers pour off everything the fungus claims, The Hotel Basement Horde grows with every spore on the table, and The Spore Choir drains the whole pod on each token that arrives.
• "Three infinite combos" — Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts for infinite hasty tokens and infinite damage, Dockside Extortionist + Temur Sabertooth for infinite Treasures into any X spell, and the all-custom The Cordyceps Mother + The Hive Mind Chorus loop (she taps free to make a Runner, the Chorus untaps her every time a Fungus token arrives) for infinite Runners, infinite enters-the-battlefield triggers and infinite drain.
