Tokyo Ghoul — Kagune

Commanded by Ken Kaneki, the One-Eyed Ghoul, this Rakdos (black/red) 100-Card Commander Deck starts in Tokyo's 20th Ward, where a literature student wakes up half-ghoul after a surgeon named Kanou transplants Rize Kamishiro's organs into him. Anteiku teaches him to live; Aogiri Tree, Jason and the Gourmet teach him the rest. The cast includes Touka, Rize, Shuu Tsukiyama, Yoshimura, Eto, Haise Sasaki, Kishou Arima, Furuta, Hinami, Yamori, Ayato, Uta, Urie, Takizawa and Hide, from Anteiku to Cochlea and the 24th Ward.

• Kagune: printed word for word on twenty-five creatures — "Sacrifice another creature: Put a +1/+1 counter on this creature. It has <keyword> as long as it has a +1/+1 counter on it." Flying for Touka and Ayato, first strike for Shuu, trample for Kaneki and Yamori, plus menace, lifelink, deathtouch, double strike and indestructible. No custom counter: only +1/+1 counters and real Magic keywords.
• The commander is the plan: Kaneki creates a 1/1 Ghoul at the beginning of combat on your turn, has his own free sacrifice outlet, and every sacrifice puts a +1/+1 counter on another creature with kagune.
• Forty-seven cards carry or read the mechanic: Yoshimura pumps kagune creatures, Uta adds a counter each turn, Haise draws, Yamori, Takizawa and Gourmet Club Patron pay on each sacrifice, Banjou, Naki, Furuta and Aogiri Tree provide the food.

Why Rakdos

Black is the hunger and the meal; red is the kagune itself, the eruption, the rage of the boy who cracks. Two combos end the game: Eto Yoshimura gives undying to your other non-Human creatures, so Arata Proto, Armor Quinque can be drained, eaten and brought back with counters for unlimited damage; and Shuu Tsukiyama, the Gourmet with The Gourmet Club turns a single drain into a loop that kills the table. Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Rakdos Signet, Talisman of Indulgence and Ashnod's Altar ramp; Wearing the Mask tutors; Kishou Arima, Rinkaku Impalement and Kagune Strike remove threats; The Owl Suppression Operation sweeps; Skullclamp and The Last Cup at Anteiku draw; Hinami and The Cochlea Breakout recur.
