Premium−70%Voltron: Legendary Defender — 100-Card Commander Deck
SKU DECK-VLT-100
Voltron, Defender of the Universe leads a Five-Color (white/blue/black/red/green) Commander deck that never casts its commander: pay {2} and tap five Lions of different colors to Form Voltron from the command zone. Voltron is as big as all your Lions combined, flies, tramples and destroys a creature or planeswalker every time it attacks, while Call a Lion searches the library for the missing pieces and Keith Kogane, Black Paladin joins the 99 as a planeswalker.
Voltron: Legendary Defender — Form Voltron
Commanded by Voltron, Defender of the Universe, this Five-Color (white/blue/black/red/green) 100-Card Commander Deck is built on the 2016 series Voltron: Legendary Defender. Ten thousand years ago King Alfor of Altea built five robot Lions and scattered them across the universe so that Zarkon could never hold them again. Five Galaxy Garrison cadets find the Blue Lion in a cave under the desert, are thrown across the galaxy to the Castle of Lions and wake Princess Allura and Coran. Each Lion can fight on its own; only all five together form Voltron. The deck plays exactly that rule. The cast includes Keith, Shiro, Lance, Pidge, Hunk, Allura, Coran, King Alfor, Kosmo the cosmic wolf, the Space Mice, Krolia and Kolivan of the Blade of Marmora, Matt and Sam Holt, Ryner, Shay, Romelle, Slav, Lotor and the Atlas.
- Form Voltron: Voltron can't be cast. Pay {2} and tap five untapped Lions you control with different colors, as a sorcery, and Voltron enters from the command zone. The cost doesn't use the tap symbol, so a Lion that arrived this turn can help. Voltron has flying and trample, its power and toughness equal the total of your Lions (15/17 with the five printed Lions, more as they grow), and whenever it attacks it destroys target creature or planeswalker defending player controls. Your Lions gain indestructible and can't attack or block: they are Voltron. It is never cast, so forming it again never costs commander tax.
- The five Lions: one legendary Lion per color, each useful before the merge. The Black Lion, Head of Voltron is a 5/5 with flying and menace that calls a Lion; The Red Lion, Right Arm of Voltron has haste and deals 2 damage to a creature when it attacks; The Blue Lion, Right Leg of Voltron has ward {2} and taps and stuns a creature; The Yellow Lion, Left Leg of Voltron has vigilance and gives the other Lions ward {2}; The Green Lion, Left Arm of Voltron has hexproof and taps for mana of any color. Magic has no yellow mana, so the Yellow Lion, the shield of the team, is white.
- Call a Lion: the customer asked for a way to fetch the Lions fast. Twelve cards say Call a Lion (search your library for a Lion card, reveal it, put it into your hand), among them Princess Allura, Blue Paladin, Pidge Gunderson, Green Paladin, Coran, the Royal Advisor, Takashi Shirogane, the Champion, Lion's Roar, Let's Form Voltron! and The Castle of Lions. The Lions Choose Their Paladins puts two Lions straight onto the battlefield, Paladins, Launch! puts two into your hand, and The Atlas, Coalition Flagship, Altean Alchemy, Romelle, Rebuild the Lions and King Alfor, Builder of the Lions bring fallen Lions back.
- Keith Kogane, Black Paladin: a planeswalker in the 99, not a commander, with loyalty 4. His +1 untaps a Lion and gives it +2/+0 and first strike, his −2 calls a Lion, and his −7 gives you an emblem: Voltron has double strike and haste.
- When Voltron forms: Princess Allura returns up to two nonland permanents your opponents control to their owners' hands, Coran draws two cards, Commander Sam Holt creates two Coalition Fighter tokens, The Blazing Sword attaches itself to Voltron, and The Voltron Coalition gives your creatures hexproof while you control Voltron.
Why five colors
The colors are the Lions' own: black for the head that chooses its pilot, red for the fastest and most temperamental Lion, blue for ice and sound, green for the forest Lion, and white for the Yellow Lion that takes the hit for the four others. Ten dual lands enter untapped as soon as you control a Lion. Two combos sit in the list: Kosmo, the Cosmic Wolf with Ryner, Olkari Leader blinks Ryner for {2}, untaps four lands and makes each opponent lose 1 life on every loop, and The Balmera's Heart with Pidge's Override makes unlimited colorless mana for Kosmo or Fire the Castle Cannon. Bracket 4 tools: Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Chromatic Lantern, Altean Teludav and The Balmera's Heart ramp; Coran's Wormhole Coordinates tutors; Lance's Sharpshot, Robeast Overload, Ion Cannon Strike, Krolia, Blade of Marmora and Lotor, Exiled Prince remove threats; The Komar Drains the Planet is the only sweeper; Pidge's Signal Decoder and Kolivan, Leader of the Blade draw cards; Particle Barrier protects the team.
A complete 100-card Commander deck plus 3 tokens, tuned for Bracket 4, available as a digital print-yourself edition or a printed physical deck, and offered in 10 languages.
