The Witcher Commander Deck · 100 Proxy Cards · MTG EDH
A fully custom The Witcher Magic proxy Commander deck, ready to play straight out of the envelope: 100 proxy cards with original artworks inspired by The Witcher — the Path, the contracts, the monsters and the trophies you take off them. This is a Golgari (B/G) monster-hunting deck led by Geralt of Rivia, the White Wolf: he has deathtouch, he fights on entry and on attack, and every kill pays.
Targeted power level: Bracket 4 — three compact infinite combos, fast mana and a full tutor package, while staying more fair and combat-oriented than cEDH.
Deck Strategy
Everything revolves around Trophy, the deck's original mechanic: whenever a creature an opponent controls dies after one of your creatures damaged it, you create a Trophy token — an artifact with "{T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color." Trophies are the deck's currency: they ramp you, they fuel the payoffs, and they are the combo engine.
Geralt of Rivia, the White Wolf is the centre of it. He has deathtouch and fights a creature every time he enters or attacks, so he kills whatever he touches — and every corpse mints a Trophy. Three pillars hold the game plan together:
- "The Hunt" — fight plus deathtouch is the removal suite. Geralt, Lambert, Eskel, Letho and the Wolf School Medallion turn combat into targeted removal that always pays a Trophy.
- "Trophies & alchemy" — The Trophy Wall drains every opponent each time a Trophy is created, the Tavern Notice Board turns Trophies into cards, and the Potions (Swallow, Thunderbolt, Cat) are cheap artifact cantrips that buy a combat edge.
- "Three infinite combos" — Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion for infinite damage to the table; Witherbloom Apprentice + Chain of Smog for infinite drain; and the deck's own loop, Kikimora Broodmother + Alchemist's Cauldron + Master Armorer of Kaer Morhen, for infinite Trophies, infinite mana and — with The Trophy Wall out — a table-wide drain.
Original Mechanics
- Trophy tokens — every monster you kill becomes an artifact you crack for mana of any color, and the engine every payoff in the deck is built on.
- The Signs — the witcher's combat magic as a cycle: Quen (protection), Aard (forced strike), Yrden (lockdown trap) and Axii (mind control into discard).
- Contracts — sorceries that reward the hunt: leave a clue behind, open the way to the Wild Hunt and to larger predators.
- Potions — cheap artifact cantrips you sacrifice for an edge in combat, then draw a card.
- Bracket 4 toolkit — Sol Ring, Ancient Tomb, Arcane and Golgari Signet, the dork suite, Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Worldly Tutor, Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, Finale of Devastation, Assassin's Trophy, Toxic Deluge, Damnation, Sylvan Library, Phyrexian Arena… around 2.5 average mana value with 35 lands.
