Gen V — Blood and Rank

Commanded by Marie Moreau, Blood Bender, this Jund (black/red/green) 100-Card Commander Deck is set at Godolkin University, the only college for young people born with superpowers: a crimefighting track, an entertainment track, a giant screen in the atrium that ranks every student, a recruitment tent for whoever reaches the top — and, in the forest behind the campus, a facility called the Woods for those who never will. Marie arrives on a scholarship, ranked ninth, with the only power on campus that works on other people's bodies: she moves blood.

  • Bloodbend: printed on twenty-four cards, as activated costs, optional additional costs (Nosebleed, Boil From Within, Blood Puppetry), mandatory X costs (Every Vein at Once, Transfusion) and an upkeep tax (Every Grade Is Public). To bloodbend N, take N blood: for each point, pay 1 life or put a -1/-1 counter on any creature, yours or an opponent's. Marie turns each counter taken from an opponent into a +1/+1 counter on one of your Supes, Dr. Edison Cardosa draws, Cipher steals each marked creature at the beginning of your combat, and The Odessa Project stops marked creatures from blocking.
  • The Rankings: twenty-one Supes carry a printed rank, from #1 (Luke Riordan, Golden Boy) to #21 (Speedster Hopeful). Nothing recalculates it: you only climb when a better-ranked Supe you control leaves the battlefield — dies, is sacrificed, exiled, bounced or blinked. Then every Supe below moves up, and each "whenever this moves up" pays: cards, counters, Treasures, damage, untaps.
  • One engine: bleed your own Golden Boy to death and he deals 3 damage to each opponent as he leaves while everyone behind him climbs. Teleporting Sophomore blinks a Supe, Dropped From the Rankings sacrifices one, The Woods returns the cheap ones, and Vought Talent Scout pings each opponent on every climb.

Why Jund

Black is the institution underneath — the Woods, the dean's plan, the virologist's vials — and blood as the price. Red is power on display: the ranked students, Golden Boy's fire, the board that only counts what the cameras saw. Green is the body: the compound in the veins and the forest that hides the lab. Two combos close the game: The Woods with Ashnod's Altar or Woods Orderly, Emma Meyer, Little Cricket and any lower-ranked Supe loops sacrifices and climbs that Dean Indira Shetty turns into drain; Sam Riordan with Compound V Booster Shot and Ashnod's Altar persists forever and deals damage on every return. Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Rakdos Signet and Sports Science Grant ramp; Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor and Godolkin Admissions tutor; Terminate, Assassin's Trophy, Beast Within and Expelled remove threats; Every Vein at Once and Cardosa's Virus sweep; Skullclamp and Little Cricket's Channel draw; Lightning Greaves and Vought Contract protect the top of the board.

A complete 100-card Commander deck plus 3 tokens, tuned for Bracket 4, available as a digital print-yourself edition or a printed physical deck, and offered in 10 languages.
