Magic Proxy The Crooked Man — The Crooked Man

This page is the The Crooked Man door into one deck: “HORROR — THE GRIMOIRE OF THE DAMNED”. It is not a separate product. What ships is the full 100-card mono-black Commander deck in which The Crooked Man is one of the cards — the same box, the same cards, the same files, whichever villain you came in through. You can see the complete deck list further down this page, and the parent product here: Horror — The Grimoire of the Damned Commander Deck.

“He came out of a nursery rhyme and he did not come back.”

Small blockers cannot stop him, every attack drains 2, and Body count makes him a 6/3 once the book has four pages. The cheap, reliable clock.

The Crooked Man is one of the Summoned. While you control The Grimoire of the Damned, The Crooked Man has indestructible and ward {2} — removal, wraths and blockers simply do not work. At the beginning of the end step you sacrifice The Crooked Man, and next main phase the book brings The Crooked Man straight back for free. Take the book away and The Crooked Man is exiled instead of dying: no sequel.

What You Actually Get

The whole deck. 100 proxy cards with original artwork, led by The Grimoire of the Damned — a legendary artifact that can be your commander. Targeted power level Bracket 4: three infinite combos, fast mana and a full tutor package, over an engine that removal cannot answer at all… only taking the book away can.

  • Summoned — while the book is out, your monsters cannot be killed. They are sacrificed at every end step and come straight back, free, the following turn.
  • Page counters — every creature death anywhere on the table writes another page, including your own monsters killing themselves every turn. Pages gate the free recursion and switch on the Mortals’ Body count abilities.
  • Three infinite combos close it around turn five, one of them entirely custom.
  • 35 lands, average mana value around 3.3.
