What They Lack and the Road Home
SKU OZ-CARD-105
What They Lack and the Road Home — Token card from the THE WIZARD OF OZ Commander deck (What They Lack).
What They Lack and the Road Home
Type: Token
Rarity: Token
Mana Cost: —
Color Identity: Colorless
Reminder card. WHAT THEY LACK: this creature enters with a lack counter on it. While it has a lack counter, it isn't legendary, it has base power and toughness 1/1, and its other abilities don't function. Only the price printed below removes that counter — one payment, once, and this creature never enters with a lack counter again.
Every companion names what it is MISSING and what the PRICE is, and the price is never generic: the Scarecrow discards your hand, the Tin Woodman pays five life, the Lion has to attack alone and connect, Oz sacrifices two artifacts, the Witch of the East sacrifices a land. A lack counter is not a -1/-1 counter and it is not a curse that grows — it overwrites the creature down to a 1/1 with its text switched off until somebody pays for it.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME: return all nonland permanents you control to your hand. Nothing is destroyed and nothing is exiled — everything comes home, and everything can be cast again. It is aimed at your OWN board, on purpose, at a moment you choose, and a companion who has already paid never enters lacking again — so going home is how you collect its enter-the-battlefield trigger a second time, and a third.
“Three of them were handed bran, red silk and a bowl of green liquid, and all three behaved afterwards exactly as they had behaved before.”
Single card from the THE WIZARD OF OZ (What They Lack) Commander deck. Sold individually.
Fan-made proxy — not intended for official tournaments
