The Curse and the Parley
SKU PIRATES-CARD-104
The Curse and the Parley — Token card from the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Commander deck (The Curse).
The Curse and the Parley
Type: Token
Rarity: Token
Mana Cost: —
Color Identity: Colorless
Reminder card. THE CURSE: when a cursed creature dies, return it to the battlefield tapped; this triggers only once each turn. It can't be healed — damage can't be prevented or removed from it and you gain no life from it. Whenever you sacrifice a Treasure, you get a curse counter. While you have ten or more curse counters, each permanent you control is a 1/1 Skeleton creature with no abilities.
The reward and the punishment are the same action. Treasure is this deck's mana, its card draw and its removal, and every coin you spend is a coin taken off the heathen gold. The tenth one turns your whole board to bone. Will Turner, Syrena, Philip Swift, the Fountain of Youth and Return the Gold to the Chest are the only ways back down, and Barbossa and the Moonlight are the reason you might not want to go back down at all.
PARLEY: whenever a creature with Parley attacks, the defending player may give you the parley price before blockers are declared. If they do, remove that creature from combat. If they don't, it deals double combat damage this turn. The offer is made BEFORE the swing, it is genuinely refusable, and refusing is what costs.
“The Code says any man who invokes parley may not be harmed until the parley is concluded. It does not say the parley has to conclude well.”
Single card from the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN (The Curse) Commander deck. Sold individually.
