Premium−70%World of Warcraft — 100-Card Commander Deck
SKU DECK-WOW-100
Arthas Menethil, Prince of Lordaeron leads an Esper (white/blue/black) Commander deck played as two games: a Paladin who heals and protects until Frostmourne is attached, then The Lich King, as twenty-two cards flip at once and the runeblade raises Zombie copies of everything it kills.
World of Warcraft — The Prince Who Fell
Commanded by Arthas Menethil, Prince of Lordaeron, a two-form commander who becomes The Lich King, this Esper (white/blue/black) 100-Card Commander Deck tells the story of a single decision: a plague in the grain, a paladin prince who decides to save the kingdom faster than anyone else, a city burned with its people inside, ships set on fire so nobody goes home, a runed sword in a frozen cavern whose inscription says exactly what it costs, and a throne of ice at the top of the world.
- The Fall: printed on twenty-two cards and read by seven more. Arthas is a Paladin until Frostmourne first becomes attached to him; then he transforms into The Lich King for the rest of the game, wherever he is, and never transforms back — a blue and black 7/7 Zombie Knight with deathtouch and ward {3}. The Fall is a state of the game, not of the permanent: dead, exiled or in the command zone, he returns as the king.
- Two decks in one: every white card but Swords to Plowshares carries two lines, 'While Arthas is a Paladin' and 'After the Fall'. Uther the Lightbringer turns your life gain into an opponent's loss, then heals you whenever your creatures die. Jaina Proudmoore raises Silver Hand Recruits, then taps enemies. The Culling of Stratholme destroys all creatures and reads differently on each side of the Fall. You choose when the first game ends, by equipping a sword.
- Frostmourne Hungers: on four runeblades — Frostmourne, Shadowmourne, Corrupted Ashbringer and Runeblade of Acherus — and read by fifteen cards. A creature the wielder damaged that dies is exiled under the Equipment with a soul counter; each counter makes a black Zombie copy of it. If the blade leaves the battlefield, every soul returns to its owner. Fury of Frostmourne destroys every non-Zombie and fills the blade.
- Two combos: Uther with Blood-Queen Lana'thel loops life gain and life loss, but only while Arthas is a Paladin; Kel'Thuzad, Archlich of Naxxramas with Plague Cauldron and a blade holding a soul drains without end.
Why Esper
White is the Silver Hand, the crown and the Light — the only colour that changes. Blue is the ice and the Kirin Tor, Dalaran, the frost wyrms and the frozen throne. Black is the Scourge, the plague, the Cult of the Damned and the sword that keeps souls. No red and no green: there is no rage in Arthas and no nature in Northrend, only duty and what replaces it. The tension is the whole deck: the strongest Equipment is also the switch that turns off half of it, and anybody else can carry it without consequence. The lands are the places — Capital City of Lordaeron, Stratholme, Dalaran, Light's Hope Chapel, Icecrown Citadel and Naxxramas.
A complete 100-card Commander deck plus 4 tokens, tuned for Bracket 4, available as a digital print-yourself edition or a printed physical deck, and offered in 10 languages.
